Sustainability
Sustainability at HRS
Sustainability has been a key focus area at HRS for several years. We are environmentally certified under DS/EN ISO 14001:2015, we purchase only green electricity, and we generate a portion of our electricity needs ourselves using our own solar panels. This work is carried out across our departments in Kalundborg, Korsør, and Slagelse.

For our customers in the pharmaceutical, defense, and infrastructure sectors, documented environmental and occupational health and safety management is a requirement, not an option. That is why we track our consumption and our environmental impact, and we publish the figures.
Certified Management of the Environment, Quality, and Occupational Safety
HRS is certified under DS/EN ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management, DS/ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, and DS/EN ISO 9001:2015 for quality management. The certificates can be downloaded from our quality management page. Environmental data and environmental goals are discussed annually in all three departments as part of management’s evaluation. The framework for this work is outlined in our environmental policy.
Energy and Green Electricity
We buy 100% green electricity
and generates approximately 160,000 kWh per year from its own solar panels. Energy consumption has been reduced through the use of LED lighting, upgrades to compressors, and improved building insulation. Our Scope 1 emissions, which primarily come from company vehicles and our own operations, totaled 149 metric tons of CO2e in 2025.
We have explored the possibility of switching our work vehicles to electric models. The vehicles are often heavily loaded and operate on jobs far from charging stations, so we believe this is not a practical solution at this time. We are monitoring developments and, in the meantime, optimizing route planning, maintenance, and fuel consumption.
Resources and Waste
In 2025, HRS generated 101 metric tons of waste. Of this, 99.4 metric tons were prepared for recycling. Hazardous waste is handled separately in accordance with applicable regulations. Water consumption was 859 cubic meters, compared to 898 cubic meters the previous year, and is primarily for sanitary purposes.
All employees receive training in waste management and environmental awareness. A significant portion of the improvements stem from the employees’ own suggestions.
Workplace Environment, Education, and Business Ethics
Our occupational safety and health organization covers all three departments. The number of workplace accidents fell from 8.16 to 5.16 per 100 full-time employees from 2024 to 2025, and we are making a concerted effort to prevent accidents and learn from near-misses.
We have eight apprentices and trainees, and each employee received an average of 14 hours of continuing education in 2025, compared to 12 the previous year. In addition, there is on-the-job training and instruction from the machine manufacturers’ own technicians.
We have a Code of Conduct and a whistleblower program. In 2025, there were no confirmed cases of corruption, bribery, discrimination, or harassment.
Sustainability Report 2025
The report compiles our data on energy, CO2e, waste, water, occupational health and safety, training, and business ethics, along with comparative figures for 2024. It primarily covers Scope 1 and 2, as well as selected areas within Scope 3.
The report has not been verified by an independent third party.
